Location: Hamilton (Dundas), Ontario
Schedule: Part-time (20–25 hrs/week) or Full-time (40 hrs/week)
Work Arrangement: Hybrid position. Occasional in-person meetings or site visits may be required.
About the Role
The Estimating Coordinator supports Shane Fence’s estimating process by identifying new opportunities through tender platforms, performing initial fence quantity takeoffs, collecting material pricing, and organizing bid documentation. This role is ideal for someone who is detail oriented, organized, and comfortable working with construction drawings to support the estimating process.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and search tender platforms for relevant opportunities.
Review and analyze tender documents, drawings, and specifications to determine project scope and suitability.
Perform initial takeoffs from construction drawings (fence lengths, gates, materials) and hand off results to the Senior Estimator.
Request and collect supplier and subcontractor quotes; compile and compare pricing.
Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to confirm availability, lead times, and pricing.
Organize and track bid documents, drawings, and addenda, and file documents appropriately.
Maintain a bid calendar and ensure tender deadlines are met.
Support the estimating team.
Education & Experience
Minimum 1 year of experience in estimating coordination, construction administration, or a related role (fencing/construction industry an asset).
Experience using tender platforms such as ConstructConnect, Bids & Tenders, Biddingo, or Merx.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Architectural/Engineering Technology, or a related Ontario college program is an asset.
